Jan Prax is a German award-winning saxophonist, composer, pianist and band leader. 

In 2012 he won the Future Sounds prize of the Leverkusener Jazztage with his quartet, the most important jazz prize for musicians under 35.

His debut album “Keepin' A Style Alive“, which has been nominated for the German record critics' prize and which was included in the "TOP 20 - Best Jazz Albums of 2015" by UK Vibe Magazine, was released in March 2015. In early 2015 the Jan Prax Quartet was awarded third prize of the Made in New York Jazz Competition by a jury composed of Joe Lovano, Lenny White, and Randy Brecker.

In 2016 Jan Prax was invited by David Sanborn to perform with his group and he also joined the quintet of renowned double bassist Riccardo del Fra. Jan is also playing on Riccardo Del Fra CD "Moving People" (Cristal, Sony) featuring Kurt Rosenwinkel.

The second album of the Jan Prax Quartet "Ascending" (Challenge Records) was released in April of 2018 and features guests like Soweto Kinch. In the beginning of 2019 Jan was awarded with a scholarship by the Arts Foundation Baden-Württemberg.
